This print is based on the Big Brother imagery from the film 1984. From Supply and Demand, pg. 244: The “Obey Big Brother” image was based on the actual Big Brother poster from the 1950s’ movie version of 1984. I thought it was the most recognizable manifestation of Big Brother, as opposed to the Big Brother image that I created as a person reinterpretation of the concept. Orwell’s ideas always resonated with me, so I thought it fitting to pay homage, especially since many of those ideas were already integrated into the Obey campaign.
