This is an original silkscreen with glazes and diamond dust by world famous artist Damien Hirst entitled 'For the Love of God'. The piece is hand signed and numbered by the artist in white pencil. The art is beautifully framed in a contemporary matt black gessoed shadow-box frame, recessed and floating on black satin matting with a matching inner black fillet. The framed size measures approx. 21-1/4X18" with both the art and frame being in mint condition. All framing materials used are of museum quality and are 100% acid free including 100% u.v. protective plexi-glas. Damien Hirst’s For the Love of God diamond skull stands amidst the genres of art, history and religion as an unprecedented and conspicuous totem of death. Petrified into their settings, do the diamonds attempt to pay indulgences to God, as the title and lavish exterior suggest? Or is its creation a memento mori reminding us of the evanescence of human life? Does the skull defy or submit to death?
