The work is unusual in that Warhol painted few children (The Foundation estimates less then 10) and rarely were works of this type signed or stretched during his lifetime. These works were of importance to the artist by evidence that he must have arranged a viewing for the family of the subjects (thus the stretchers and the pre-signatures to hang the works).
